The houses are divided into three groups as follows:
1-4 personal
5-8 social
9-12 transcendental
1-4 personal
5-8 social
9-12 transcendental
The houses correlate roughly in this manner:
Aries and Mars
Taurus and Venus
Gemini and Mercury
Cancer and the Moon
Leo and the Sun
Virgo and Mercury
Libra and Venus
Scorpio and Pluto
Sagittarius and Jupiter
Capricorn and Saturn
Aquarius and Uranus
Pisces and Neptune
The process of life and maturation is described in the archetypal wheel of houses as an individual progresses from Aries through Pisces -- the 1st to the twelfth house -- and begins all over again. One of the best descriptions I've found of this is in Linda Goodman's books. Goodman was never quite accepted into the serious astrological community (laughing all the way to the bank) but when astrology very first caught my interest 30 years ago, I read her two books, Sun Signs and Love Signs and was forever after fascinated. Goodman describes the Soul's experience through each of the signs which correlates roughly with the houses as set forth above.
The problem with this description is that people with egos and a modicum of information about astrology get hold of it and say that a Pisces is more evolved than an Aries. Is Osama bin Laden with his Sun in Pisces more evolved than Pope Benedict XVI (Cardinal Ratzinger) with his Sun in Aries? Now, really, I suppose that could depend a whole lot on viewpoint but you get my drift. The wise person throughout the ages refrains from making any judgments whatsoever about the evolution of other people's Souls and tends exclusively to his or her own.
So when I call the eighth, ninth and eleventh houses the Greater Houses, this is my reason. The eighth house experience is the crisis which prepares a person to serve others and even the world in a greater way. It prepares them to serve anyone but themselves. This seems to be a monumental task in our development as human beings. The eighth house is where we settle once and for all who we are, where our power is and what we are going to do to make any impact of which we are capable. It is where compassion is born if it ever will be. At some point in the eighth house, I realize I am not alone in my experiences.
If you don't have an eighth house planet and are powerful, compassionate and self-determining, it must be that you have mastered this experience in past lives. We have to look at the whole chart but for sure, anyone who has any personal power has been through the transformational experiences of the eighth house where the ego is purified through catharses such as death, violence, profound change, struggle, lost or death of love and innocence. The eighth house is all about loss and often the very things we think we can't live without. Many of these are intangibles, such as "my concept of myself as a loving person" or "my belief in true love" or "my trust in others or God'.
Occasionally it is the death of the one most loved. But the ultimate loss in all of this is the ego. When that process is complete, we can move to a holistic or Whole Self orientation.
After the eighth house, it is not possible to feel alone in this world. Perhaps this is why the need for others seems less now. The eighth house draws us into partnership with its opposite house, the second, and a review of morals. Am I my brother's keeper?
The lust for power that the un expunged ego feels in the eighth house, when transformed by catharsis, becomes the desire to influence others for the good. As one graduates into the ninth house two things take place: (1) a desire never EVER to go back to the fires of hell , meaning the eight house (understandable if you've been there) and (2) a desire to help others on their path to individuation, to perhaps make the world a better place, to share the greater truths and to spread light. This is borne of compassion gleaned in the eighth house experience. The ninth house is a different experience of power.
Before the full eighth house experience, there is a lust for power which can include controlling and dominating others through violence, sex or money. It is a desire to have power OVER someone else. After the great losses of the eighth house, usually at terrible personal cost, the person learns that the only power worth having is the power to control yourself or self mastery.
With this critical talent in hand, a person heads toward the ninth house with no desire to control anybody but themselves. Ninth house people are notorious for avoiding responsibility for this reason. The agreement to shoulder responsibility comes with the tenth house, a newly found responsibility to manage others in community -- this time through consensual agreement, authority granted by the collective -- legitimate temporal power. But unlike the other transcendental houses, the ninth, eleventh and twelfth, the tenth house is temporal, not spiritual. Tenth house activities can be done spiritually, no doubt about it. Take Dr. Martin Luther King with his Sun in Capricorn but basically it is a temporal matter, the tenth house. For this reason I separate the tenth house out among the transcendental houses. I also separate out the twelfth house mainly because it is impossible to talk about except in terms of Soul and the soul consciousness of humanity. At least for me! I do know it can be used for poor mental health and an excuse for avoiding work during a lifetime. It is also handy as a claim to past lifetimes in Atlantis. But, basically, I find the twelfth house transcends my desire to even want to find words It is the same way I feel when I try to discuss the last card of the Major Arcana, The World

So where the houses are concerned, I bundle the ninth and eleventh together in that the desire when there are important planets in these houses is to have an influence on history and evolution, on one's fellow wo/man and even other species, all living creatures and the spaceship Earth. In these houses we are looking for ways to change the way people think and therefrom the way they act and therefrom "the" future. One takes a very long term and nonmaterialistic view.
Most of the changes one works for in these houses one will not live to see so it is all about investing in the future of others. Only someone who has been through a full eighth house experience could possibly dedicate their life to something like this -- an ideal, a perspective, a concept, a belief, a mission. That's why I call these the Greater Houses.
In the eleventh house, there is a mission. There is a sense that the person has seen the future and is seeding the present with it. If ever one was an instrument of God it would be in the eleventh house experience. Please remember that I'm speaking archetypally.

Saturn is the place in the chart where we have lessons to master from the past. It can be a difficult and challenging area, so please remember you aren’t being singled out for this experience. Everyone has Saturn somewhere and all those people who look so perfectly together have one area of their life that just won’t shape up no matter how hard they try!
Well, the idea is to spread this out over the next thirty years, from 30 to 60, and be diligent in your progress. Don’t expect overnight success but rather a slow building process.
Your Saturn has aspects to five of the six inner planets so it acts as an anchor and constant reminder of the task at hand which is to nurture yourself with new experiences, personal growth, travel, culture and spirituality. I don’t see you having much of an issue with this except perhaps how you want to integrate it into your life. Clearly you can’t just “take off” and see the world since the rest of your planets are spread around the chart in other houses.
One of the tricks that Saturn plays is to disguise itself. The place you really want to travel to is the inner space of Self and the outer space of the Cosmos. You can use your geographical travel experiences as a sort of lever or trigger for that. You can use the sublime joy you get out of physical travel to teach yourself by analogy to travel out in consciousness for even greater rewards.
The area that we’re working here is the ninth versus the eleventh house. There is a marked preference in your spiritual life path for the eleventh house but its entry must be gained through a thorough understanding of the ninth house with Saturn there and all its lessons. Thus a lot of energy between 30 and 60 years old goes into exploring and mastering the ninth house. This is echoed by having Neptune in Sagittarius in the first house. Your Rising Sign is Scorpio which rules the first house but it is backed up by Sagittarius energy.

GETTING CLARITY ABOUT THE THREE HOUSES
There is an interesting tie to Mars in Cancer in the eighth as well because Saturn is in Cancer. This emphasizes the contrast between the eighth and ninth houses. Getting clear about the differences and nuances between these three houses is critical to fine tuning your chart energy and orchestrating your life. Let’s take a look.
You have a very powerful chart with Scorpio Rising and North Node in Scorpio. The traditional use of power is in the material realm, thus, the phrase “material power trip”. We look to the eighth house and see Mars. We look to the tenth house and see the Moon. These are the two planets that are retrogressive. In other words, they need to be outgrown. They represent habits from the past (and past lives) and ego states. We also look to the South Moon Node in Taurus, indicating the culmination in past lives of this pursuit. There is nothing more to be gained in the pursuit or possession of material wealth, beyond the needs of living comfortably in a body on earth. This is our first clue that it’s not going to be a “material power” use of the Scorpio.
Next we look at the North Node in Scorpio conjunct Uranus because that is the spiritual life path. Uranus takes us to the eleventh house where we see Pluto. These two are reciprocals. So we understand that the use of power is very tightly tied to the eleventh house even though the North Node actually resides in the twelfth. It is further direction away from the tenth house, too, because the Virgo Moon is opposite energy to the twelfth house.

THE EIGHTH HOUSE
The eighth house involves growth and transformation through psychological crises which are intensely personal and emotional. Many of the crises involve familial ties and bonded relationship where you’re sexually involved with the person. “Love” can degenerate into petty little power struggles. In the cases of these relationships, Scorpio Rising helps you draw this type of person to you. Since Mars is there, your ego may drive you into this area much more than necessary for this lifetime. In other words, you can do without it when you are conscious and centered.
THE NINTH HOUSE
THE NINTH HOUSE
In the ninth house the idea is that the lessons of the eighth have been learned and the individual ego can be transcended. An important planet like Saturn in your ninth means that you want to expand your consciousness as much as possible during your life. The universe will force this if you don’t go at it voluntarily. With this comes phenomenal intuition later in life. Meditation is your best way to get there.
The ninth house is the first of the “transcendental” quadrant of houses. This is just as important a shift as from the psychological to the spiritual. Suddenly in the ninth house one’s personal life isn’t so important. Bonded relationships are not the be-all and end-all. Even family ties are transcended by an interest in clan or tribe, sometimes on the basis of ethnic and religious similarities. In the ninth house, however, you’re not “coming from” clan and tribe in the chauvinistic sense, you are actually “looking for” your clan or tribe and it is never the people you were raised with. You must look “far and wide” for them.
The ninth house also involves a perspective which might best be considered global, historical or even evolutionary. One looks very far into the past in order to predict the future. This is the gift of prophecy that goes with the ninth house and is promised to you later in life.
You have some familiarity with ninth house energy because of having Neptune in Sagittarius and such a wonderful Jupiter. Still, with Saturn there you have to gain entrance.
THE ELEVENTH HOUSE AIR THEME

THE ELEVENTH HOUSE AIR THEME
Now let’s look at the eleventh house. The biggest shift is from fire to air. This isn’t hard for you since you have your IC in Aquarius. You can step right into it when you catch on that that’s where you want to be.
Fire is inspirational and aspirational. It is oriented toward the future with warmth. Air is detached, cool, disinterested and impartial. Some typical Aquarians have ZERO “bedside manner”. The goal is not to be inspired about the possibilities of a better future or the greatness inherent in man. These are ninth house attributes. But rather the goal now becomes a mission. The mission is to seed the world with new ideas, to prepare it for the future which the Aquarian is actually living in the present. Most Aquarian and eleventh house people are living about two generations ahead of “the times”. They can appear to get lost in time and space if they don’t realize this! Your body: Don’t leave home without it!!
This is why it’s especially important to reach for that Aquarius in the third house and learn to chitchat with people. They are teaching you how to “street talk” so you can channel your ideas to them later on. You’re learning today’s lingua franca.
The eleventh house has a preference for sheer energy. I think of the internet as simply electrifying connections which already exist(ed). You know those Aquarian “vibes”. Now people of like MIND can find each other because the bodies don’t have to travel. It’s training us for a different form of existence. I think of the body as an energy circuit first. Our job is to keep it clear and watch what we “add on”. God, who tends to be personified in the ninth house, becomes “Energy” or “The Universe” in the eleventh. Both the ninth and the eleventh house “voices” can be arrogant because there is a “know-it-all” perspective which is actually pretty hard to argue with. However, with Scorpio Rising, a conscious effort should be made to tone it down as you’ll see in the section on your Rising Sign.
So these are some pointers to remind you how to navigate between the eighth, ninth and eleventh house energy. Rework the eighth by mastering the ninth and put it to use in the eleventh to transform yourself and others and “the world”. I think part of the ninth house trip is to learn how to teach what you already know so in incarnating you “pretend” or forget that you don’t know it and go about raising your own consciousness. Then you have a RoadMap for others. No one learns better than the teacher.

Saturn in the ninth, Neptune in Sagittarius, Sagittarius for most of the first house
North Node conjunct Uranus, Pluto in the eleventh are reciprocals. They show that your power is tied to eleventh house matters. Also Aquarius IC. I have come to the conclusion that the IC represents the place in charts where I see “the Soul ”. Thus you have an Aquarian Soul.
